In recognition of his exceptional performance in the T20I format, Shafali Verma, India’s opener, has advanced two positions to No. 4 in the batting rankings.
Shafali Verma batsmanship was further exhibited in the Asian Games quarterfinal against Japan, where she scored 40 not out. She subsequently followed this up with an unbeaten 49-ball 100 in the semi-final against Bangladesh, following her scores of 64 and 68 in the semi-final and final of the Asia Cup, respectively. She became the first woman to score a hundred at the Asian Games and achieved her first white-ball century in international cricket.
She also played a role in India’s second consecutive Asian Games gold in women’s cricket by striking 48 in a blistering opening partnership with Smriti Mandhana. Beth Mooney, Georgia Voll, and Laura Wolvaardt maintained their respective positions as the top three.
Shafali Verma, who earned 756 points, surpassed Mandhana and Hayley Matthews of the West Indies to secure a position in the top four of the rankings.
Shawaal Zulfiqar, a Pakistani batsman, has improved his career-best points tally to 558, which has propelled him into the top 30 of the T20I batting rankings. Zulfiqar scored 54 points in the semi-final of the Asian Games against Sri Lanka, while her teammate Ayesha Zafar advanced 31 positions to 40th with a career-best of 489 points after scoring 71 points in the same match. Zafar also rose nine positions to 30th in the T20I all-rounder rankings.
The spin tandem of N Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma from India maintained their top positions in the T20I bowling rankings. As a consequence of their recent exceptional performances, both players achieved career-best point totals, moving up 15 and 22 positions, respectively. Fatima Sana, the captain of Pakistan, rose five positions to 24th on the bowlers’ list.
