The cricket contingent of Pakistan will be led by Sahibzada Farhan at the Asian Games 2026, which commenced on September 24. The 30-year-old has become a critical performer for Pakistan in T20 Internationals, having played in 45 matches and amassed 1,305 runs, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries. Farhan was the most prolific run-scorer in the 2026 T20 World Cup, scoring 383 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 160.25.
Prior to Pakistan’s initial quarterfinal at the Asian Games on September 28, Sahibzada Farhan disclosed that he had received technical advice from former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. The exchange of ideas that transpires among international cricketers during global tournaments is exemplified by the interaction between the two players.
Sahibzada Farhan also elaborated on the importance of domestic cricket in his career, stating that the domestic circuit had consistently provided him with a route back to the national team.
For the time being, Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as the T20 captain exclusively for the Asian Games. However, he has expressed his willingness to assume this duty on a permanent basis.
