Legendary Indian pacer Zaheer Khan, 47, was appointed head coach of the Chennai Super Kings after Stephen Fleming’s departure following the 2026 season. Khan’s contract is for one year. This is the inaugural head coaching position in the Indian Premier League for the former Indian pacer. The team, which failed to qualify for the playoffs for three consecutive seasons and finished ninth in the 2026 IPL, will capitalise on his extensive teaching experience.
MS Dhoni recommended him, and the cricket management concurred that his IPL experience made him a suitable candidate. Zaheer Khan has served as a bowling coach and instructor for the Lucknow Super Giants in 2025 before joining CSK.
