On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the appointment of David Hemp as head coach of the women’s national cricket team. Hemp will succeed Sarwar Imran as head coach, who is slated to leave in October after holding the role since February 2025.
David Hemp, 55, will begin a two-year spell with the national women’s team when he arrives in Brisbane for the next ODI tour of Australia. His reign will last until September 2028.
The role allows David Hemp to work with the Bangladesh Women’s squad again, having previously acted as batting coach for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in 2025 and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year.

David Hemp previously worked significantly in women’s cricket.
From 2020 to 2022, he was the Head Coach of the Pakistan Women’s National Team. He also coached the Victoria State Women’s Team and the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League.
